About the author:
I am a pro journalist, web entrepreneur and a geek with too many interests. I live and work in Zagreb, Croatia. I work with the biggest Croatian web portal (tportal.hr) and IT mag (Bug). I work as a writer/morning editor at Mashable.com. I’m a consultant for the Croatian web startup company Grejp. I have one tiny project behind me, whoishostingthis.com (created together with Gordan from Grejp), and several bigger ones (some local/regional, some global) coming soon. Finally, I’m the main editor, writer, and founder of FranticIndustries, the web 2.0 blog you’re currently reading. I like to call myself a freelancer, but in reality, I’m just a guy who’s working 3 full-time jobs instead of one.
I grew up at the tiny island of Rab, Croatia, far from technology of any kind, but thanks to my dad, I was one of the first people there to have a computer: ZX Spectrum+ (yes, the one with the real keyboard). I started out with JetPack, and my interests over the years moved and revolved around hacking (I sucked and always got caught), MUDs, hardware, web design & coding, games and MMOs, silent computing, and writing about IT. This myriad of interests has created a somewhat unique blend of knowledge; I’m quite proud to be the guy who can build a PC, overclock it to hell, silence it, customize it to work exactly as I want (my PCs very, very rarely crash or hang), hack the neighbour’s Wi-Fi, have accounts on zillions of web services and write about all that with a solid degree of authority and accuracy. In MMO speak, I’m the jack of all trades and master of none. Some evil people might add that it also results in factual errors and a general knowitall attitude; don’t believe them, they’re just jealous.
