Ladies and gentleman, your social networks are now interconnected. Enjoy the rest of your flight, and if you want to send us a message, you can use any network to do so (except Facebook).

Can Facebook afford to stay out of this bandwagon? I’m not sure. Having MySpace a a competitor is one thing, having Google on the opposite side is another. Remember when Jason Kottke said that Facebook is actually the new AOL? It sure seems like he was right now. Everyone is joining this huge “open” cross-everything thing, while Facebook is the weird guy in the corner. Oh, how quick the tables turn on the Net.

In any case, OpenSocial is one of the best ideas since the beginnings of social networking, and I welcome it with joy. Plaxo’s implementation of OpenSocial is already live at Plaxo Pulse, but I feel it’s only a hint of the things to come.
