Technorati indexes a LOT of blogs. This is why their new feature, Technorati Topics, feels so useless: it piles new blog posts in an ajaxy, Digg Spy-like fashion, but with a lack of options and a simple categorization of All, Entertainment, Technology, Politics, Sports, Business and Life, the whole thing feels like someone throwing random posts from a zillion blogs at you. I can imagine at least 20 better ways to track news from my favorite blogs; Technorati Topics might only appeal to the casual reader who’s too bored to organize his RSS feeds.
After Technorati’s WTF and the recent slightly lackluster redesign, I’m afraid this is another one in the long line of Technorati’s blunders. Features such as Technorati Topics won’t hurt them, but they definitely aren’t moving forward, either.
