If this is what the world is interested in, God help us all

Google Trends now lists the most “trendy” terms, which should comprise a zeitgeist, a list of things that are currently on our collective hivemind. The list itself is called Google Hot Trends.

Well, as TechCrunch points out, most of those terms are complete nonsense. Between porn stars, star trek trivia, and questions like “who was the first new world explorer to take a dip in the springs of what’s now hot springs arkansas”, it doesn’t really seem to be a good representation of what the world is thinking about right now.

Oh, and btw, number 22 is Croatia’s capital. The answer is Zagreb, folks; and it’s really, really, hot there right now. *update: have in mind that these results change all the time.

Perhaps the reason Hot Springs, Ark. received so many historical queries yesterday is because the resort town was featured as the cover story of the travel section in the New York Daily News Sunday, May 20.

Recently geographer Warren Bland named Hot Springs, Ark. the No. 1 place in America to retire.

I gotta admit, Hot Springs is a pretty cool place to live, even for those of us who aren’t yet retired.

[…] Lots of commentary on Techmeme today about Google’s new Hot Trends feature, which builds on the search engine’s previous Trends and Zeitgeist features by adding news and blog posts. Many people seem to pay particularly attention to the absurd or stupid things that people search for, including “legless chihuahuas” and “nose bidet.” […]

You would think that they world have OK’d it at the beginning instead of allowing it to go so long without saying a thing and then bringing it back up when it was too late. I don’t understand it at all. Elk Antler Aphrodisiac

Awesome info! I was honestly just thinking about something similar to this the other day so, it was almost “weird” when I ran across this. You would be surprised how many people simply have no idea when it comes to this kind of stuff. Anyway, thanks for getting this info out there and I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciates you taking the time to post this for the masses.

Some time back, my 3-year old computer was running so slow that I had to buy a new computer. Or at least I thought I needed a new computer. Then within a matter of weeks of surfing on the Internet, my new computer was also running so slowly. In addition, some programs did not run well on my computer, and I did not recognize some of the programs that were running on my computer. That scared me most. Were these programs that were tracking my keystrokes on my computer or programs I just not remember installing? I knew I had to find a answer and solution fast. The truth is, we can all put up with a slow computer, but very few of us would want others to have access to the information on our computers, but that is exactly what can happen when spyware or malware is loaded on our computers without our knowledge.
