In the defense of Truemors
In my initial review of Truemors, one of the first to hit the web, I weren’t too kind on this project, however I think I’ve kept a level of objectivity and even allowed for the possibility that the site - with some modifications - might be a success. Same can be said for the fantastic in-depth review over at Pronet Advertising.
But now, after a couple of really negative reviews of the site, this happens.
Yes, the site doesn’t offer that much novelty. Yes, the decision to keep it completely anonymous, and not even require registration for posting was definitely wrong.
But to say that Truemors is the worst site ever? Added with insults on Guy Kawasaki’s account? Guy is a famous speaker, he worked at a high position in Apple for a number of years, and he’s written several bestsellers. Perhaps Truemors isn’t the best project he’s ever done, but it’s certainly no worse than many other RSVC (Read Submit Vote Comment) projects out there.
I don’t know about you, but I like a pinch of common sense and a tad of objectivity in what I read.

Hi Stan. I’ll get the disclaimer out of the way first: I was one of the developers (electricpulp) contracted to deploy Guy’s idea, so I don’t know if I can be objective.
But I think it’s safe to say that the online community reacted to truemors like they would a poke in the eye. Very few were objective.
Yours was, until you added this: “*update: the page is already overrun with spam. What were they thinking, having a service like this and allow anonymous posting?”
Having a bit of an inside glimpse into the “theys,” I’ll tell you anonymous / easy posting was a big part of this thing’s character.
Truemors shows that Guy’s got guts. I’d expect upcoming iterations will begin to demonstrate other traits as well.
Hope all’s well.

@aaron: Well, I understand that anonymous posting was a part of the “charm” of Truemors. I simply still think it’s a bad idea. It’s not only about anonymous posting, it’s about being able to post even without registration. From my considerable experience with RSVC (Digg-like) sites, I can say that registration is an absolute must. Removing it might seem like removing a step towards adoption, and making it easy for users, but the bad sides will always overshadow the good sides.
And, yes; I’ve written this post precisely because I’ve felt that many reviews were completely off-base. Being a little subjective is one thing; burying something into the ground without a good reason is another.

The posting mayhem was no surprise to anyone. The mob reacted the way they ‘could.’ But the part that has been widely missed by reviewers is that a large percentage of the non-mob posts are coming from sms, camera phones, or voice messages. Not requiring registration has encouraged the non-traditional posting methods by users that aren’t as technically savvy as many of the bloggers reviewing the site. There was a reason the doors opened without some of the standard protocol. That’s not to say it will stay that way.
Again, I realize I’m not objective, and this probably comes off as me defending the service. That’s not my intention - I just think there’s more to the plot.

I often run into people that want to unblock myspace at school, but it is blocked. There is a simple solution to that, just use a myspace proxy to unblock myspace. Here is one:Unblock Myspace

I think really that using a proxy is one of the better ways to unblock myspace. I mean it hides your ip and keeps you safe from admins so I would go with it. Unblock Myspace

Money is incredibly tight in my loved ones right now so several extras can be found eliminated from our budget. The initial thing to go was our cell phone plan and cable wasn’t far behind. At first I thought this would be a huge issue as my husband likes to watch sitcom re-runs. Yet, this hasn’t been a issue as he is capable to Cant Filter Me. also as other favorites of his. I’m glad he discovered these as I don’t want him to lose everything he loves. Thankfully, I am able to write part of our Online fees off for my employment so we didn’t have to get rid of that also. I think that would are already the final straw for him.

Designed with all-metal construction and a 6-quart capacity, this powerful stand mixer features a 575-watt motor for handling tough mixing jobs. It can effectively mix up to 14 cups of all-purpose flour and produce up to 8 pounds of mashed potatoes. The mixer can also churn through double batches of bread dough with the included burnished PowerKnead spiral hook, which replicates hand kneading with a forceful punching and rolling action. The mixer’s 10-speed slide control ranges from a very fast whip to a very slow stir, while its Soft Start mixing function helps minimize ingredient splatter and flour puff with gentle acceleration to the selected speed after start-up. An electronic speed sensor helps maintain a consistent mixing speed, even when adding ingredients. For commercial-style motor protection, the mixer automatically shuts off when overload is detected.
