Search visually with Kartoo
Google Operating System has found a neat visual metasearch engine called Kartoo. It’s not the first of its kind, but, surprisingly, I’ve found it quite useful. It displays a cloud of terms and websites related to your keywords, and does quite a good job in discerning what’s important. For example, look at the results for the search term “franticindustries” below:

As you can see in the image, the main topics related to FranticIndustries are technology and social networking, which is exactly right. It also shows some other bigger projects I was working on, as well as some bigger websites who have linked to this site. In a nutshell, you get the idea of what the site is about, and that’s quite an accomplishment.
It’s not going to replace Google anytime soon, but it’s probably not the idea, either. However, for a quick and visual survey of key aspects of a certain term, it works great, and being wrapped in a aesthetically pleasing package doesn’t hurt, either.
