Everyone is suing YouTube

Thinking in retrospective, I can’t for the life of me understand the logic behind what many people said about GooTube, claiming that big Google will protect YouTube from lawsuits. It’s obvious now (actually, it was obvious then, too) that Google’ acquisition just made YouTube a bigger target.

Thus, pretty much everyone is now suing YouTube. The English Premier League, Viacom, Thailand - actually, it’s the hip thing to do now. Not suing YouTube is so 90ies.

This has been repeated many times, but let’s do it once again. YouTube did not create those offensive videos. If you’re gonna sue them, cut out the middleman and sue the Internet. No Internet = no YouTube = no nasty videos.

Yeah, it’s the ambulance chasers trying to make it a class action law suit now.

I have a wicked idea: the unambiguously named web site www.youtubeclassaction.com was set up by those cuddly lawyers. Aren’t those lawyers infringing YouTube’s trademark by using it in their domain name? I think there’s a case to state that it exists purely to seek profit through association with the name, as it directly solicits complaints from others?
