Quick news: Rolling Stone social network, WriteWith, partnership with KillerStartups
The once-great-now-mostly-boring music magazine Rolling Stone has announced the launch of their own social network. Welcome to the world of fierce competition and big disappointments when you realize that people who read Rolling Stone are mostly old guys who don’t use computers.
WriteWith, one of the projects funded by YCombinator, the micro-startup funding machine, has launched. It’s a combination of a collaborative blogging platform and collaborative document writing tool. It works with both WordPress and TypePad. My main problem with these collaborative-type tools is that I don’t have anyone to collaborate with to really test it out.
In other news, you may have noticed that some of the startup coverage on FranticIndustries is done by an author named KillerStartups. The thing is, there are so many new startups out there that an army of writers wouldn’t be able to cover them all. Thus, we have entered a partnership with KillerStartups (see more about the site here), and will be syndicating some of their content. This, of course, doesn’t mean less articles from me; it means more articles on the site overall, and a broader selection of startups covered! Under each article you will find a link which you can use to go over to KillerStartups and give your opinion on the future of that startup. It’s fun, try it out!
