Facebook redesign: more boring than you ever thought possible
Facebook was always known as the social network in a businessman’s clothing. The design was lackluster, but at least functionality was in the front seat and the whole thing didn’t poke you in the eyes with annoying animations.
Now, with a newly redesigned site, Facebook reaches new heights of mediocrity. Gone is the recognizable “facebook guy”, but so is everything else worth noticing. As it stands now, the site’s design is somewhere between a placeholder page for an unfinished website and the site of a 3rd rate accounting company, from 1999.

Don’t get me wrong: I will always applaud functionality over flare, and function over form. But this is a social network, people. Shouldn’t it be at least a tiny bit fun?

I fear going there.

@Ali: I like 9rules’ social network design. It’s very nice, but at the same time very functional.

Sure the header could be a bit more ‘fun’ (as you put it) … but from using the new design and layout a bit (further than the home page…), I quite like it …

It just doesn’t look like a site that will do what you want it too. It does, I’m sure but I’ve never registered because of the design, which I hope doesn’t match the functionality.
