The Torrent Review - a Digg for torrents

Soon, it will be pointless to write about new social content Digg-like sites because everyone and their grandmother will introduce this feature. However, at this point it’s still interesting to see a hot topic like torrents get its own social content site.

The Torrent Review
is a simplistic, minimalist, Drupal-based site which doesn’t offer any other options besides voting for stories and submitting new ones. The stories themselves are short descriptions of movies followed by a torrent link. With such a bare site, options-wise, and absolutely no user interaction, it’s hard to predict a bright future for Torrentreview. But, when a topic is so hot as torrents, it’s quite possible that the site will become quite popular, especially since it’s linked from Oscartorrents, a torrent site created by the authors of the infamous thepiratebay.org.

*Update: later I’ve realized that the points/votes for stories are shown as “pieces of eight”. For example, the top story currently has 3 pieces of eight. I have no idea what this means, I hope someone can shed some light on this mystery.

Pieces of Eight: An old Spanish coin, as in pirate treasure. Its value was eight reals and was actually legal tender in the US until 1857.
