Big record labels plan to drop DRM?
If this were true, it would be the best news for music lovers in years.
Allegedly, some of the executives of unnamed big record companies said that they could start selling DRM-free music - in other words, plain old free MP3s. The news comes from Midem, the annual global trade fair for the music industry, however, nothing of it seems to be confirmed in any remotely official way.
Although it sounds nice, it’s highly unlikely that it will happen anytime soon or even at all. RIAA has been suing people left and right for downloading or uploading MP3s, and there’s no way they’ll change their stance on this overnight. It would make them look stupid (OK, stupidER) if they were suing people for something that one of their members is offering for free.
The fact that Yahoo and some other companies have been offering some music tracks for free definitely don’t mean they’re ready to start offering all music for free. All companies have only one thing in mind - profit - and they will never make any moves which ultimately don’t lead to increase in profits. DRM is for them currently a cool new way to get more money, and I don’t see why they should drop it unless they were forced to do it.
Again, I would like to point out that DRM means Digital Rights Management, not Digital Rights Mastery. This means that it can also used positively - to increase the value of content instead of diminishing it. In this case, DRM wouldn’t be a bad thing at all. Check my article on positive and negative DRM here.

[…] It’s not all that hard to foresee what’s happening here. Whatever the announcement is, it’s definitely going to be related to online sale of digital music. It can either be some sort of partnership between EMI and Apple, or it’s going to be about EMI ditching DRM, which would confirm earlier rumors. Mike at TechCrunch seems to agree with Wall Street Journal that this is the end of DRM. […]

I was surfing youtube and stumbled up this video on Sports Betting. Not sure what to think of these systems, most likely give it a shot because it’s sold through clickbank and they have a no BS money back guarantee if the product doesn’t do what it says it will do. Any words of wisdom?

Within the non-web world, retailers are continuously fighting a war with shoplifters and individuals who would take your product while not paying for it. You would think that this sort of thing would not be a drawback in an on-line world. However in Clickbank which is the biggest net marketplace in the world, one in each of the largest issues is stopping folks from downloading a digital product and then not following through with payment.Like every alternative retail setting there are security weaknesses in Clickbank as there are with any software environment. However with some correct caution on the part of the seller at the individual level, you’ll realize ways that to plug those security holes and keep your product secure thus every time it gets downloaded, you get paid.In reality we tend to typically are our own worst enemies once we become Clickbank merchants as a result of we tend to do some things that undermine the protection Clickbank already has in place. The primary issue to recognize after you market on Clickbank is that it’s off limits to put links to your product files on Clickbank on one among your alternative web site pages. Don’t attempt to extend the selling by driving traffic to your Clickbank pages in this way. For correct security, the only means your customers should be ready to download your product is once researching the traditional Clickbank payment pages that enforce that payment is created before delivery. This is one terribly easy precaution to keep someone from getting to your content and bypassing the payment procedure.
