Daylife - another news aggregator
Daylife is a new free online service that automatically gathers news from the internet, similarly to Tailrank or Megite, but the stories that go to the front page are chosen by human editors.
As much as I like this concept, Daylife leaves much to be desired. It looks good - I give them that. Also, it has the interesting concept of using people, places, and organizations as sorts of interconnected news hubs, from which you can browse through relevant news. For example, after clicking on United States, you can click on Kofi Annan and then see the articles where these two were mentioned together.
All this makes for a really nice magazine-like experience, which might appeal to the casual user looking to spend some time on the web. The authors don’t hide this either, naming the Colors magazine as one of their biggest inspirations.
However, if you’re a professional that lives on news or simply a news enthusiast, you can steer clear of Daylife. The reasons are simple: no clear categorization, no RSS, too many clicks to get to the actual articles, and all this in a relatively slow GUI.

How do you compare it to Google News?
I think it beats it on almost every front, especially when drilling down to details within each news piece.

@rickdog: Daylife looks nicer than Google News, but the fact that it doesn’t have RSS makes it hard for me to use it at all. Also, Daylife seems to be much more confusing to use than the simple design of Google News. I don’t think Daylife is even meant to compete to services such as Google News; it is supposed to be a classy online magazine. I guess its creators were thinking along the lines of: wouldn’t it be cool to have a great looking magazine like Colors but with the articles being aggregated automatically? I understand the idea, but I don’t know if there’s a market for it.
